I don't (and probably never will) understand the point of judging. Had I read closer when signing up for the show, I would have opted out of the judging myself (I thought putting it in the "daily driver" class was a good enough indicator). I won my class, but only on account of being the only entrant (240Z daily driver). I just don't understand the point of trailering your car out, obsessing over every last paint chip or bit of rubber shed by your tires, or spending the entire day (like the guy with the black NA Z32) going over your interior with a tiny vacuum cleaner. I still had bugs in the radiator from the drive the previous day, and chocolate on the door panel from my daughter. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate your car Woody, as I told you in person. I'm sure the judges were just as rough on you as me, going over every little chip in the paint (or non-original piece of hardware), as if there's some sort of accountability to reckon over it, but at least they judged mine early (I was in the first row, in the sunshine yellow 240Z with the enkeis, next to all the trailer queen 240Zs that don't ever get to see the light of day). At the end, I wanted to tell them that it was unlikely to ever fit in any category other than daily driver, because I'm not going to vacuum seal the bastard away from the air and the road. It's too much fun to drive to want to do that. You definitely deserved the gold cup. Compared to that dog-awful purple 280ZX (owned by one of the judges, of course) that did win a gold cup, yours was positively miles ahead both aesthetically and mechanically.
